Description: The extract is derived from the fruits which is well-known commercial myrobalan, called Belliric Myrobalan. Known to the scientific world as Terminalia belerica is a large decidious tree traditionally called as Baheda or Bibitaki. It is unique in being both laxative and astringent, so it purges the bowels, while simultaneously toning the tissues of the digestive tract.

It is one of the constituents of famous preparation "Triphala" which finds use in wide array of areas ranging form rejuvenating, astringent, cardioprotective, antacid & antibacterial properties. The overall tonic effect of this fruit has been known for thousands of years in India and other Asian countries. The major phytoconstituent are saponins in nature. Scientific Evidence Preclinical studies have shown that Terminalia belerica reduced the levels of lipids in hypercholesterolemic animals. The experiments have shown a significant decrease in liver lipids and heart lipids in the drug-treated animals.

Recent research has proven this herb to be potent adaptogenic agent. The whole aqueous standardized extracts of Terminalia belerica were administered orally to experimental animals, in a dose extrapolated from the human dose, following which they were exposed to a variety of biological, physical and chemical stressors. The observations greatly supported the fact that Terminalia belerica significantly offers protection against these stressors. Experimental studies have also proven this herb as Antidiabetic, Antioxidant, Antimicrobial.
